‘Kara no Kyoukai: Fukan Fuukei’ 3D Blu-ray Anime Release Scheduled

2 min read

Garden of Sinners 3DI missed this back at the beginning of October when it was revealed as we were amid all the simulcast fun, but there’s a whole lot to like. Aniplex Japan has set a March 23rd, 2016 release date for the first Garden of Sinners movie to be released on Blu-ray in 3D. This will work only on 3D compatible systems and has me gazing lovingly at Aniplex USA in hopes that they’ll offer this up somehow locally. The release is priced at 5,400 yen and does not list any extras at the moment, which won’t surprise me if it’s purely the film itself. Considering that they’ve released it in North America in regular form, they should include English language subtitles but I’m expecting that they won’t.

Plot concept: In September 1998, a string of seemingly random suicides leaves Japan baffled and devastated. But a detective agency specializing in paranormal occurrences notices that there are a few glaring, disturbing similarities tying the deceptively unrelated cases together: All the victims are schoolgirls, and all of them have jumped to their deaths from atop the ancient Fujou Building, a skyscraper that is scheduled to be bulldozed soon.

To investigate the cause of these disturbing events, the head of the agency, magus Touko Aozaki, dispatches Mikiya Kokutou and Shiki Ryougi. The kind and surprisingly normal Mikiya serves as a stark contrast to the cold and mysterious Shiki, who possesses the “Mystic Eyes of Death Perception”: an abnormal ability which allows her to see, and bring, an end to all things.
