First ‘Warcraft’ Trailer Arrives

2 min read

WarcraftOne piece I missed on Friday in my eagerness to go see the Spectre film is that Legendary Pictures unveiled the trailer for their Warcraft movie. The film has been gestating for some time before Duncan Jones was brought on board to direct it. Set for a June 10th, 2016 release, the trailer certainly feels like a big budget trailer for the game in a way and that’s not exactly a bad thing. The hard part is going to be convincing people to come out for it because of its game origins, but a lot of that is going to ride on fans of the game creating enough buzz for it in the same way that there were a lot of Lord of the Rings fans that built up the importance of the work.

Directed by Duncan Jones and based on the script by Jones and Charles Leavitt, the film stars Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Ben Schnetzer, Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Toby Kebbell, Robert Kazinsky, Clancy Brown, Anna Galvin and Daniel Wu.

Plot concept: The film portrays the origin story of the initial encounters between the humans and the orcs, with an emphasis upon both the Alliance’s and the Horde’s sides of their conflict. Featuring characters such as Durotan and Lothar, the film will take place in a variety of locations established in the video game series.
