During the extended event that was The Walking Dead last night, AMC debuted the first full footage for the Preacher TV series coming next year. While the work is definitely one of my favorite comic book series, it’s one that I see having a really hard time being adapted into serialized TV outside of a subscriber based service with a different business model. The trailer focuses a lot on Dominic Cooper as Jesse here and he certainly has some good moments with it, but I find myself wary.
The pilot has been written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg with Sam Catlin set to be showrunner. The series will star Dominic Cooper as Jesse, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Ian Colletti as Arseface and Tom Brooke as Fiore.
Plot concept: Preacher is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God.
