Amazon Prime recently made the deal that they’ll be streaming Lucifer in the UK after it airs in the US and that means they need to do a little promotion for it. That comes in the form of a launch trailer, which thankfully gives us more footage that we haven’t seen as the original one was all about the pilot. Does this improve it? It’s certainly not looking like it…
The project has the creator and executive producer of Californication, Tom Kapinos, shepherding it with Warner Bros. TV and DC Entertainment. Len Wiseman directed the pilot. The series stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Kevin Rankin and Scarlett Estevez.
The title character in the DC Comics world is one that began in the Vertigo series Sandman, which is in line for a theatrical adaptation itself, and it also launched into a 75 issue series of its own back in 2000 through 2006, which was written by Mike Carey.
Plot concept: Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.
