Obi-Wan & Anakin HeaderMarvel Comics has been killing it when it comes to the Star Wars original works that they’ve been putting out as part of the new expanded universe. With what we’ve had so far, it’s all been exploring the events after A New Hope and, a post-Clone Wars series focused on the Rebels character of Kanan one series that has started to take us past Return of the Jedi.

Now the publisher is going to dip back further to before the Clone Wars saga with Star Wars: Obi-Wan & Anakin. The new book is set to run for five installments and will take place between the first and second films.

The series is set to begin in January 2016 and will feature writer Charles Soule, who nailed the Star Wars: Lando series, and artist Marco Checchetto, who is also doing some fantastic work on Shattered Empire.

Plot concept: The series unfolds several years after the events of The Phantom Menace, as Obi-Wan is struggling to train his willful Padawan and the two Jedi are dispatched on a dangerous new mission on a remote world. While story details are vague, it seems this mission will test the growing bond between master and student.
