The new season of Garo: Crimson Moon has debuted this weekend and now FUNimation is doing another simulcast run of it not only on their site but also at Hulu where it’s part of their paid subscriber level. The first episode has gone live for subscribers there and those at that level get to Hulu to watch this show on your TV and mobile devices. It’s expected that after a week (or two depending on contracts) that the show will shift to free/ad supported viewing.
Animated at MAPPA and Tohokushinsha, the series is directed by Atsushi Wakabayashi based on the overall composition by Shou Aikawa and Toshiki Inoue. Takao Yoshioka, Seishi Minakami, Masaki Wachi, Shinichi Inotsume and Shigeru Murakoshi are involved in the scripts for the show. Masao Ebihara is handling the character design adaptation from the original works by Masakazu Katsura.
The series will star Romi Park, Akiko Yajima, Daisuke Namikawa, Tomokazu Seki, Kenyuu Horiuchi in undisclosed character roles. It’s set to run for two cour.
Plot concept: In the capital city of an elegant, feudal society, a powerful spiritual barrier protects people from demonic monsters known as “horrors” – at least, those lucky enough to live in the northern part of the city.
I continue to wonder what business arrangements are being made, as you would think that there’d be more of a desire for exclusive streaming rights, in order to build up your own subscription streaming service.
