The spring 2015 anime series Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches ended its run while ago and it’s been quiet when it comes to the cover artwork for the home video release. That’s now changed a bit as we’ve gotten a look at the fifth set that’s set to be released on October 28th, 2015. The release of artwork for the series has been painfully slow overall as most retailers don’t have anything themselves either. The release plans are definitely an interesting one to see unfold. The show is getting a two set Blu-ray and DVD box set release as well as a six volume single release, which is largely being released concurrently. The first volume was released on June 24th, 2015 with new volumes coming monthly while the box sets will be released with the third and sixth volume with this breakdown in pricing:

  • BD-Box 1 LE: 20000yen + tax; DVD-Box 1 LE: 16000yen + tax | August 26, 2015 (same as v3)
  • BD-Box 2 LE: 20000yen + tax; DVD-Box 2 LE: 16000yen + tax | November 25, 2015 (same as v6)
  • v1 to v6 BDs: 6800yen + tax each
  • v1 to v6 DVDs: 5500yen + tax each

The box set releases will have six episode per set and the first set will contain extras with the clean opening and closing sequences. First press edition extras include the box itself to hold the three volumes and six end card illustration cards. The second box set mirrors the first but with the second half of the series.

The series is schedule to run for twelve episodes, though we expect there will be some further OAD projects and like an unaired episode for the eventual home video release as well. The project will be directed by Tomoki Takuno, who is doing storyboards as well, with Fumiaki Usui serving as assistant director while Eriko Iida will be handling the character designs and Michiko Yokote on the scripts.

The cast includes Ryota Ohsaka as Ryu Yamada, Saori Hayami as Urara Shiraish, Toshiki Masuda as Toranosuke Miyamura, Maaya Uchida as Miyabi Ito, Masumi Tazawa as Rika Saionji, Aoi Yūki as Noa Takigawa, Toshiharu Sasaki as Kentarō Tsubaki, Eri Kitamura as Nene Odagiri, Daisuke Ono as Ushio Igarashi, Yui Makino as Meiko Ōtsuka, Yuki Takao as Maria Sarashima, Shinnosuke Tachibana as Shinichi Tamaki, Tomokazu Sugita as Hideaki Tsurukawa and Yuuki Ono as Mitsuru Kamedea.

The series is based on the manga by Miki Yoshikawa, which debuted its OAD on December 17th, 2014 and a second on May 15th, 2015 with the 17th volume of the manga.

Plot concept: Shiraishi Urara is the top student in her school. One day, due to an accidental kiss, Urara finds herself in the body of the school delinquent, Yamada Ryuu! In trying to switch back to their own bodies, Urara and Ryuu discover that kissing causes them to switch bodies, which leads to their discovery that there are 7 witches in their school. They soon try to uncover the identities of the 7 witches…
