ABC Sets Pilot Plans For ‘Damage Control’ Marvel Comedy Series

2 min read

Damage ControlWe’ve talked on this idea before, but it looks like things are coming together with Marvel TV and ABC to bring about the Damage Control series to primetime television. ABC has now given a put pilot commitment for the show as a single-camera comedy developed by Ben Karlin, EP for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. The idea is to look at the “behind the scenes” Office Style look at living in the Marvel Universe is like with various events and how this organization would deal with it. The property comes from the 1988 miniseries of the same name and it had three series overall and plenty of appearances over the years.

DC Comics has a similar property in the pipeline for development with Powerless, which focuses on the insurance side of living in the DC Universe. That’s set up at NBC with a pilot commitment as well.

Plot concept: Damage Control follows the overworked, underpaid, clean up crew of the Marvel Universe. Specializing in dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from superhero conflicts, they’re the ones who are in charge of returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, help to reschedule a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a superhero battle, or even track down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo.
