‘Orange’ Live-Action Manga Adaptation Film Gets First Trailer

Orange filmAfter getting a brief teaser for the live action adaptation of the manga Orange, which comes from Ichigo Takano, back in early August, TOHO is now giving us a bigger taste of the work with a minute  long trailer for the film. While the manga series eneded last month, the live action film is set for release on December 12th, 2015. The film is directed by Mitsujiro Hashimoto based on the screenplay by Arisa Kaneko, who worked on the Densha Otoko film.

The film stars Tao Tsuchiya as Naho Takamiya, Kento Yamazaki as Kakeru Naruse, Ryo Ryusei as Haruto Suwa, Hirona Yamazaki as Takako Chino, Dori Sakurad as Saku Haguta and Kurumi Shimizu as Azusa Murasaka.

The 2012 manga series has four volumes to its name that have been published so far and the fifth volume will be scheduled for not long after the serialization ends. With over 1.5 million copies sold so far, it’s proven popular and was recently licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment

Plot concept: Everyone has regrets in life. So who wouldn’t take the chance to change the past if given the opportunity? When sixteen-year-old Takamiya Naho receives a mysterious letter, claiming to be from her twenty-seven-year-old self, her life is suddenly thrown into flux. The letter tells her that a new transfer student by the name of Naruse Kakeru will be joining her class, and to keep her eye on him. But why? Naho must decide what to make of the letter and its cryptic warning, and what it means not only for her future, but for Kakeru’s as well.
