Fans of the superhero buddy/comedy pairing of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle have room to hold out hope for the characters as it looks like years of flirtations with them by Warner may finally be realized. A new listing has shown up on The Tracking Board that indicates that after attempts at various TV series iterations have been made that a feature film is now in development at the studio. While nothing is signed or sealed at the moment, Greg Berlanti is on board to direct the project. After his successes with the various TV properties such as Arrow and The Flash and the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow, it’s a natural fit for him to shift to there for a bit for what’s essentially a buddy “cop” movie.
Supposedly Zak Penn, who has done a good bit of work on the Marvel films, is being courted to take a stab at this for the script.
While not part of the initial slate of films Warner revealed last year year, it’s one that fits in with playing with their big properties but also working the lesser known, such as the upcoming Suicide Squad and Green Lantern Corps alongside the big Justice League set of films.
While Berlanti has been involved on TV side with The CW, he’s also shepherding Supergirl and has story credits for the upcoming Flash and Green Lantern films.
