2 min read

Gundam The Origin Sorrowful Artesia Key VisualAs we get closer to the fall premiere for the second episode of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin in theaters in Japan on October 31st, a bit more is surfacing about the project in general. The latest to arrive is some new additions to the cast as more characters are populating the work and that means casting news. Not surprisingly, the bulk of the characters are coming back with the same actors from the first installment but there are five new actors boarding the project.

The main cast includes:

Keith Silverstein as Edward Mass/Casval Rem Deikun
Maggie O’Connor as Sayla Mass/Artesia Som Deikun
Marc Thompson as Degwin Sodo Zabi
Liam O’Brien as Gihren Zabi
Bob Johnson as Dozle Zabi
Wendee Lee as Kycilia Zabi
Kirk Thornton as Ramba Ral
Amanda Shuckman as Crowley Hamon
Doug Stone as Jimba Ral
Veronica Taylor as Astraia Tor Deikun

Newly joining the production are:

David Vincent as Gaia
Doug Erholtz as Ortega
Tom Wayland as Mash
Fryda Wolff as Amuro Ray and Mirai Yashima
Ben Diskin as Char Aznable

Though it’s getting a theatrical release, fans won’t have as long of a wait to own it afterward as it comes out to own a few weeks later. Set for a November 26th, 2015 debut, the bilingual and subtitled second release will arrive in a collectors edition, a regular edition and a DVD regular edition. The collector’s edition is priced at 10,000 yen, the regular at 6,800 yen and the DVD edition at 5,800 yen.

The collector’s edition is again a welcome elaborate piece where we get another Yasuhiko Yoshikazu illustrated box for it, a new 290 page book of storyboard and cel material and a ten page replication of cels. Add in a 32 page manga piece, a twelve pge booklet and an audio commentary and there’s a lot to like here. The bonus material on disc to be determined is about 15 minutes in length while the main feature is 60 minutes. With a Japanese and English 5.1 mix, it also comes with Japanese, English, French, Korean, Chinese Traditional (Taiwan, Hong Kong), Chinese Simplified Chinese with subtitles

Plot concept: The four-episode project will tell the story of Casval Rem Deikun and Artesia Som Deikun (Char and Sayla, before Char became known as the Red Comet) before the One-Year War in UC.0068.
