‘Tokyo Ghoul: Jack’ Japanese Anime DVD/BD Cover Artwork revealed

2 min read

Tokyo Ghoul JackWith the first Tokyo Ghoul: Jack OVA scheduled for a September 30th, 2015 release with Soichi Shimada directing it, distributor Marvelous has finally revealed the cover artwork for the release. And with so much of the promo material being dark, the light cover certainly is an interesting switch.  Shimada handled the opening animation direction for the series and did a few of the episodes as well. This work is about Arima during his high school days and was serialized in the Jump Live digital service back in 2013 from original creator Sui Ishida. No details about the production are available, but it’s largely expected to be the same creative team as the TV series.

The Tokyo Ghoul property is likely not over by any stretch as there’s still a stage play to come in Japan and the second manga series, Tokyo Ghoul:re seems like it’d be adapted easily enough when there’s enough material to move forward with as the property has done well in Japan and abroad. The cast includes Daisuki Namikawa as Arima and Ryohei Kimura as Fura, Saori Hayami as Uruka, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ryo, Rumi Ookubo as Aki, Yuji Ueda as Itsuki and Rintarou Nishi as Yamori.

Overall property concept: Strange murders are happening in Tokyo. Due to liquid evidence at the scene, the police conclude the attacks are the results of “eater” type ghouls. College buddies Kaneki and Hide come up with the idea that ghouls are imitating humans so that’s why they haven’t ever seen one. Little did they know that their theory may very well become reality.
