With things coming together for the upcoming release of the Jessica Jones series, production and casting is starting to shift to the Luke Cage series for Netflix and Marvel. And because of that, some new casting details have arrived. With Mike Colter previously cast as the title character and appearing in Jessica Jones first, we’ve now gotten the addition of Theo Rossi, Alfre Woodard and Simone Missick to the show.

While there’s some being cagey moments with the casting in terms of who they’re playing, we’re seeing Rossi tagged as the villain Shades, Woodard as Black Mariah and Missick as Misty Knight. We’re also seeing that Rosario Dawson will be making an appearance as Claire Temple as well as she’s showing up in what looks to be just about all the series, which is a great piece of connective tissue for the shows.

The Luke Cage character was originally created back in 1972 by Archie Goodwin and John Romita, Sr. for Luke Cage, Hero for Hire. He eventually teamed up a lot with Iron Fist, who is getting his own series after this one as well. The character has appeared in animated form in several different projects as well as videogames.
