‘Be-Bop Highschool’ Anime Getting Japanese DVD Release Finally

2 min read

Be-Bop HighschoolFor those distributors looking for curious lost titles from the past to pick up some day, we humbly recommend Be-bop Highschool. The seven episode OVA series was produced by Toei Animation from 1990 to 1998 where each OVA was fifty minutes long. It wasn’t too unusual to get long running OVA productions like these back then, especially if the manga was doing well. The original manga came from Kazuhiro Kiuchi and ran from 1984 to 2004, culminating in 48 volumes of material from the monthly Young Magazine serialization. Suffice to say, it’s the kind of property that should have gotten a better anime adaptation overall.

The series is now finally getting a DVD release set for December 9th, 2015 price at 10,800 yen – which is an absolute steal overall. No details about the release are available yet though, but we don’t expect there to be much beyond the show itself.

Plot concept: For the invincible and basically happy punk lads Hiroshi and Toru, what they care about every day is to get a lot of attention from girls and to win the fights against the lads from other schools. Whenever provoked, they just go out fighting and settle the situation no matter what it costs.
