NBC Prepping ‘Brides of Dracula’ Series

2 min read

Brides of DraculaNo, no, it’s not a remake of the classic Peter Cushing movie.

NBC is looking to expand its supernatural side again, having foolishly cast off Constantine from the previous season, and are setting up shop with a Brides of Dracula series. THe project is one that certainly has an interesting group working with it as it’s being shepherded by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who writes the Afterlife With Archie and Sabrina comics, as well as being a playwriter and screenwriter. He’s working with Greg Berlanti to move it forward with pilot production already committed by the network.

What’s clear by the premise though is that this is no late night Friday night show but something that’s looking to get later primetime material during the week in a kind of Desperate Housewives kind of way. With the team working on it, especially with the luck Berlanti has in getting his projects picked up, there’s potentially going to be some intense casting going on here.

Plot concept: Brides is described as a sexy reimagining of Dracula as a family drama with a trio of strong, diverse female leads, a show about empowered women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy — and their non-traditional family.
