Based on the manga by Kazuya Minekura, the second part of the two-part Wild Adapter OVA series scheduled to land on September 30th, 2015 in Japan with its limited edition form. These are a bit pricier in general, closer to $100 depending on currency conversion, so it’s not exactly within reach of some of the more casual fans. Frontier Works previously brought out a standard edition version of the first, a few months after the original installment, that clocked in at 5,800 yen. That was back in the March/June 2014 period for LE to standard. Now Frontier Works has announced the standard edition version of the second installment with a planned November 26th, 2015 release also at 5,800 yen.
Produced by Anpro, it brings a new adaptation of the series that’s been running off and on since 2001 from the woman behind many Saiyuki series. The manga itself was released for a bit by TOKYOPOP here before they went under. The series had a previous two episode OVA released back in 2002 via the Executive Committee work.
Plot concept: Makoto Kubota wandered through life, not taking things too seriously or looking too deep within himself. His job as the head of the Izumo Group’s youth gang kept him pleasantly occupied with yakuza wars, mahjong and assassinations… Until the day he stumbled upon a strange drug called Wild Adapter that produces bizarre side-effects—including death. Forever changed, Kubota becomes entangled with a drifter named Minoru Tokito, and the two form an unlikely companionship that draws them deeper into the mystery of Wild Adapter…
