The final week of sales for August are in from Japan with what’s selling and shaking with the home video market. And one thing is clear; Neon Genesis Evangelion most certainly still has a presence. The arrival of the original TV series on Blu-ray there has it topping the chart at just under 23,000 units sold, which at the cost of it is pretty darn impressive. This week has a good range of titles in general showing up, with the end of Shirobako coming in at 13,000 units and the latest Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls nipping at its heels. We also get to see the end of Kimiuso on the chart and the continued strong sales of Kantai Collection.
The DVD side is mostly similar, though with fewer copies in general across the board, but the top of the list is the latest One Piece collection that deals with some material from the early to mid 500 range. The DVD box for Evangelion clocks in at just under 4,000 units. which with its price and age is still definitely good to see.
