The casting parade continues for the upcoming series Fist of the North Star: Strawberry Flavor with a new announcement arriving. This one brings a familiar character to be sure to the forefront with Kenshiro being cast. With it being a fairly iconic role, even in silly form, it’s gotten a solid partner with Katsuyuki Konishi taking on the part. Konishi’s not exactly a household name among anime fans but he gained a lot of attention for his portrayal of Kamina in Gurren Lagann previously.
The cast includes Banjou Ginga as Souther, Junichi Suwabe as Shū, Kousuke Toriumi Rei and Kisho Taniyama as Yuda.
The series was announced back in June as it adapts the Fist of the North Star: Strawberry Flavor spinoff manga was getting an anime adaptation. Originally beginning back in 2013 with Yuishi Kawata and Imoto Yukito handling the series, the fourth volume arrived earlier this summer. The first three volumes have more than a million copies in print so it’s no surprise that there’d be some adaptation of it. Particularly since it seems like the DD Fist of the North Star gag manga’s anime adaptation back in 2011 and 2013 did well enough.
The series is set for an October debut.
Plot concept: The gag manga centers on a fun version of the Holy Emperor Souther as he tries to find ways to become friends with Kenshirō, demonstrates his party techniques, and sometimes plays with the Gosha Sei.
