NBC Universal Japan is digging into its archives from the 90’s a bit more with a new Blu-ray release coming up with the Eat-Man series. The distributor has now set a November 6th, 2015 release for the show that will be priced at 24,800 yen. The release will bring both the 1997 series and the 1998 series for a twenty-four episode set that will come with a new manga piece and a booklet. Unfortunately, according to some of the responses to inquiries that some people have made, it looks like it’s an upscale from the masters used for the previous DVD edition release.
Animated by Studio Deen, the series was directed by Koichi Mashimo who also handled the scripts, worked on the storyboards and handled the series overall composition. It’s based on the 19 volume manga series from Akihito Yoshitomi, which also restarted last year.
Plot concept: Meet Bolt Crank, mercenary extraordinaire, and the man who eats metal! Through his travels, he stops along the way to make a few bucks and occasionally rescue damsels in distress. His taste for metal gives him quite an edge as he becomes capable of generating an assortment of weapons from his hand! It’s a strange ability, but it seems to come in handy, so to speak. Bolt has an edge over his adversaries, but will that be enough?
