Non Non Biyori Repeat | Episode 5
Sensuifu: Natsumi trolling Komari with the gag fortune toy (despite not knowing it was all bad fortune) was hilarious. Unfortunately for Komari, all those gags coincidentally happened to come true. Poor Komari, always the victim of bad circumstance, or rather, coincidence
And we get a lot of Candy Store goodness this time. Cute seeing Ren-chon wanting validation of her costume’s authenticity by testing Kaede’s opinion of it. Even cuter was her sporting Kaede’s old clothes; though nothing could’ve topped Komari’s costume. Too cute.
So much goodness packed in these small vignettes. The sense of timelessness remains, even when the characters feel awkward they’re enjoying life ‘off-schedule’. As always, the show remains the perfect iyashikei show to wind down to.
davesimmons: Ren-chan being so eager to show her leaf whistle to Kaede was cute too — they do a nice job of showing how little things like that are still exciting or even wonders in her eyes.
Sensuifu: definitely. It’s the littlest things that sometimes provide the biggest impact. Just look at Ren-chon playing with the spigot. She continued to do that in the background the entire time.
bctaris: I was most amused that Natsumi’s outfit (the teen version of Kaede) was the only one not commented on–but she even wore the choker. Probably because it was so Kaede, and so Natsumi.
It was otherwise kind of odd, but neat, to see this engaged side of Kaede with the girls, going through the trouble of making them lunch. Though she seemed to enjoy showing off her okonomiyaki skills.
GingaDaiuchuu: Renge definitely stole the show this time, between being fascinated by the faucet (serving as the perfect finale of Komari’s misfortune) and the whistle and being so smug when her teruterubouzu is instantly recognized.
The bit with the clothes was also great for everyone involved.
EmperorBrandon: It never ends for Komari, does it? Funniest bit was the one with the water going straight into her eyes. Knew she was about to accidentally get drenched by Renge, but not so hilariously… Her misfortune with water ends on a fun note for all of the girls, though, which is nice.
Great to get some sweet (pun not intended) Dagashiya-san time finally, looking after the girls by showing off her wonderfully odd old clothes and okonomiyaki making prowess. Komari’s and Hotaru’s were even more fun to see from behind. And like bctaris, Natsumi’s caught my interest too even though it wasn’t commented on in show. Also liked Renge being smug about Dagashiya-san recognizing her mask as a teruterubouzu. I think of that as reflective of the close bond she’s had looking since her she was a toddler.
