EmperorBrandon: For a character that seemed so thoroughly uninteresting to me (in more ways than one) in the first episode, I have to say they have actually gotten to make me rather curious about the vice-president. I was already intrigued about her relationship with the president, and this episode just makes me even more so. Do wonder what’s the story there.

Sensuifu: Huh, yeah, Meiko cowering to the president like that was a bit of a surprise. Didn’t think she’d be really apologetic for her missteps, but that scene does confirm Mari is as tough as she looks…which is funny and bit ironic seeing how she reacted to the torn jacket. Really curious to why Meiko is afraid of her, especially after that threat.

bctaris: Very agreed. The last two episodes she’s suddenly seemed more interesting–funnier, deeper–than I had any hope for her to be in the beginning. I’m not sure if there’s so much to her relationship with the president, unless the president made her into what she is.

EmperorBrandon: Also like how the escape plans keep getting presented in hilarious Lego format. Speaking of those plans, it seems like things were going so well after the constant blunders. Gakuto’s social suicide seemed to be paying off for his buddy, and the date was going too well… and then… Well, it seems like things are going to rock bottom in a flash. Not sure how much I can take of these guys never getting a single break, though I guess I’ll continue to see for now.

GingaDaiuchuu: It was all going too well, not only for the most critical stages of this escape plan, but for Kiyoshi’s relationship with Chiyo in general. They were close to release, but I imagine there will have to be some circumstances like this to always pull them back for more time to serve every time they get close to freedom. And as fucked up and weird as it all is, I can’t say the tension isn’t thoroughly effective, especially with those cliffhangers. With as often as their luck switches from the best to the worst and back, it’s really not that easy to tell how certain things will end up. The perks of a show with no mercy for its protagonists, I suppose.

Until now, Kiyoshi has generally gotten the best luck, but the unlucky break within this one seemingly safe moment may put him at the top of every character’s shit list… no pun intended.

Sensuifu: Gakuto is such a martyr. Poor guy goes well beyond the call of duty for his buddy, though maybe moreso for the figurines.  It’s weird seeing him with a buzz cut though. Kiyoshi getting sick from the onigiri was gold, notably of his disgusted expressions during the whole ordeal. Terrible coincidence to befall him though

As for the director..loved his anticipation that the boys would be free despite Mari’s doubt. “I’m sure they’re plenty sorry for what they….did!”

bctaris: Echoing everyone, there was an interesting and expert tension running through this episode, a tightrope where the things you’d think would make things fail end up not, and unexpected things do. Or do they? Again, that writing/direction, so good.
