Terra Formars FilmRevealed as in production back in February, the first promotional trailer for the live action Terra Formars feature film has arrived – though it doesn’t show a heck of a lot beyond some stage setting material and the general logo that it’s going to go with. The original work comes from the manga by Kenichi Tachibana and Yu Sasuga and the film is going to be interesting with Takashi Miike set to helm it. The adaptation comes after the OVA and TV series for the property that dealt with different aspects over the overall arc of the film. It’s tentatively being planned for a spring 2016 release as it works through its filming in Japan and Iceland.

The anime adaptation was produced at LIDEN FILMS with Hiroshi Hamasaki directing based on scripts by Shogo Ysukawa. Character designs were done by Masanori Shino while Satoshi Kimura did secondary character design work.

Plot concept: TERRAFORMARS makes its anime debut as a startling work of science fiction and adventure. With Earth becoming increasingly overpopulated, an ambitious plan has been put into place to terraform Mars using mold and cockroaches. Nearly 500 years after the plan, a mission to Mars, Annex 1, is under way to accomplish crucial research into the Virus currently plaguing mankind with the crew members who’ve been injected with various DNA of life on Earth in order to combat the Terraformars, giant humanoid cockroaches.
