‘Gambit’ May Move Ahead Without Channing Tatum

In what may be a case of public negotiating or just another weird element to the Gambit film, it’s sounding like Channing Tatum is about to exit the work that he’s been closely associated with for the past year – and after making an appearance briefly at SDCC about it as part of Fox’s presentation. According to The Wrap, things are close to falling apart with him in the title role for undisclosed reasons, though some reporting indicates it’s his desire and movement towards directing and a different project he’s involved with that he wants to focus on more. The film recently brought on Rupert Wyatt to direct the film. We’ve also had rumors recently that the film is expected to have a $150 million budget – which I plainly can’t believe considering the nickel and diming done on Deadpool by Fox and the fact that The Wolverine was at $120 million and far more well known than Gambit is.

The film is scheduled for an October 7th, 2015 bow and that means things have to get figured out soon as it’s going into full on production mode soon enough.
