shimoneta-episode-03Shimoneta | Episode 3

EmperorBrandon: Ayame continues to have some of the most amusing expressions. Love that grin of hers after Tanukichi is given his food in a pet bowl. But in the same scene… I do like how we are getting to see Ayame’s soft side apart from her antics, both in her passion for her goals (the notes on love this episode were interesting) and the backstory behind her friendship with Anna.

Speaking of Anna, she seems to a focal point of a lot of characters’ infatuations. I definitely had a feeling that Otome was obsessed with her. But with the stalker(s) being portrayed as genuinely creepy in their actions, I wasn’t feeling I’d like the possibility that she was the one doing it (like with Ayame, it came to my mind when it was first presented). Thankfully that was not actually the case and Tanukichi was right. Hmm… Anna might be undergoing some sort of transformation after that accidental kiss. Going to be interesting to see what Tanukichi thinks of her becoming “less pure” if that is the direction it’s going in. I hope he’s accepting, or it’s not too off-putting if he’s not. He’s already apparently developing feelings for Ayame, though.

GingaDaiuchuu: I like that Ayame makes an official declaration to end her brief moment of levity. Definitely some real commentary behind all that, of course.

I’m glad the show’s idea of open-mindedness doesn’t limit it to heterosexual relationships. Looks like just about everyone loves Anna now, but of course just as she returns Tanukichi’s feelings, his will lie elsewhere.

Library-chan: Everyone wants to get into Anna’s pants. Nice to see some yuri, courtesy of Satomi Arai’s character. I wonder what’s with Anna’s character. Maybe she suffered a tramatic experience, like attempted rape?

Sensuifu: Doubt it. Her reaction to the accidental kiss wasn’t typical of someone traumatized by something like that. She’s more attuned to keeping her moral standards aligned with her mom’s expectations and being that naive, pure maiden, ignorant of the sexual innuendos surrounding her (unless directly brought to her attention), she really just seems sheltered..almost like the epitome of what most of their society has turned into.

Saotome is a strange one though.  Her painting-Anna fetish is bizarre, but I’m glad they didn’t go and make her the creepy stalker. Though to treat Tanukichi with some S&M undertones might speak a little bit of her character.

Ayame is still hilarious as ever, though I’m thinking there’s something else she could be hiding, probably in relation to her relationship with Anna in the past. Will be interesting to see how Tanukichi responds to Ayame’s possible affection for him as he himself thought of her as he went to save Anna.

Asrialys: When explaining the setting just before the OP, we see the main characters standing over rubble. Anna seems like she’ll be obsessed with Tanukichi. But Anna’s mother is there as well, lying on the ground, with a disappointed or annoyed look on her face (plus she looks flustered during the OP). I wonder if Sophia is doing all of this just for the ludicrous reason of protecting her daughter. This show seems to focus on the cause of pregnancy quite a bit so far…

And/or… she used to be in AV and doesn’t want anyone, especially her daughter, to discover any evidence of such
