New ‘009 Re:Cyborg’ Anime Dub Clip Arrives

2 min read

Cyborg-009 ImageWith just a few weeks until the home video release, FUNimation has brought out a new dub clip for 009 Re:Cyborg. This clip is one that goes for exploring some of the ideas behind the film, which is pretty much put in the title, as it deals with terrorism an intrigue in this particular world. The film has had its dub produced at NYAV Post and that certainly ratchets up interest for people wanting to see what the studio is up to these days.

FUNimation will be releasing the film with a limited edition release with a 44 page booklet that has lots of material in it. On disc extras include the special prologue, promo video and assorted teasers and trailers. The release will be a DVD/BD combo pack that will land on July 28th, 2015.

And it’s admittedly silly to hold out hope for it, but I had really hoped we’d see the 3D release here for this one.

Plot concept: Many years ago, nine humans were captured and transformed into cyborgs for the purposes of becoming agents of evil. Instead, they rebelled, becoming champions of justice anytime the earth was in need. Now, in a post-9/11 world, the meaning of “justice” has become clouded. The cyborgs, untouched by time, and some without memory of their status as heroes, have since taken up lives as ordinary civilians. But when a mysterious force known only as “His Voice” compels people across the world to commit unspeakable acts of violence, even cyborg 009, Joe Shimamura, falls victim to the irresistible faceless power. In an era when cyber-terrorism is rapidly advancing, how can the cyborgs combat an enemy that has no face, no weapons, and seemingly no motive?
