While Crunchyroll announced a number of new shows and dates for premieres, they also had a few that were… less than clear. One of those is Symphogear GX, which they listed as something as coming beyond the summer lineup. Whether this is a mistake on their listing part or it’s something where we’ll see it as a delay-cast by a few weeks or after the summer season as a whole is unclear. The first season was simulcast by FUNimation by they passed on the home video option and nobody simulcast the second season, which makes this good news – somewhat. The series debuted in Japan today.
The series will be directed by Katsumi Ono with Akifumi Kaneko serving as the script supervisor as well as writing thes cripts. Character design is being handled by Satoru Fujimoto based on Dan Yoshii’s original designs and the production is being animated at Satelight.
Symphogear GX is bringing back the main cast with Aoi Yūki as Hibiki Tachibana, Nana Mizuki as Tsubasa Kazanari, Ayahi Takagaki as Chris Yukine, Yōko Hikasa as Maria Cadenzavna Eve, Yoshino Nanjou as Shirabe Tsukuyomi and Ai Kayano as Kirika Akatsuki. It also recently added Inori Minase as Carol Mars Dinheim, Misaki Kuno as Elfnein, Michiyo Murase as Gally Tuman, Shiori Izawa as Mika Jaukaan, Shizuka Ishigami as Leia Dalahim and Masumi Tazawa as Farrah Suyuf.
Property concept: Two years ago, a pair of idols, Tsubasa Kazanari and Kanade Amou, collectively known as ZweiWing, fought against an alien race known as Noise using armor known as Symphogear. To protect a girl named Hibiki Tachibana, who got severely wounded by the Noise, Kanade sacrificed herself. Two years later, as Tsubasa has fought the Noise alone, Hibiki ends up gaining the same power as Kanade.
