‘The Boy and the Beast’ Anime Feature Gets New Teaser Spot

2 min read

Bakemono no Ko PosterCinema Today has released a new teaser spot  for The Boy and the Beast now that we’re just about two weeks away from it premiering in Japan. With the new spot it’s a quickie reminder that the film is coming out along with other helpful tidbits for the locals about getting in to see it. There doesn’t seem to be much new in the trailer but it gives us a bit of a better look at the film and it also gives us a real taste of the theme song from the feature that’s being produced and performed by the group Mr. Children.

Bakemono no Ko is set to land on July 11th, 2015 in Japan and is being localised as The Boy and the Beast. The film is an original work for Hosoda and has been in development for quite some time. Hosoda is joined by Takaaki Yamashita and Tatsuzo Nishida as animation directors. It already has international distribution outside of Asia as Gaumont made an early investment in the project to acquire the rights. Currently, no release date or locations have yet to be announced by Madman Entertainment or FUNimation for their theatrical release.

Fans of Mamoru Hosoda’s works have gotten a good bit of attention overseas in the last few years with his film projects such as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time,Summer Wars and more recently Wolf Children back in 2012.

Property Concept: Set in human world Shibuya and bakemono (beasts) world called Jutengai. One day a human boy strays into Jutengai and encounters a bear-like swordsman Kumatetsu. He becomes Kumatetsu’s apprentice and is given a name Kyuta. The film follows Kyuta’s training and adventures with Kumatetsu.
