‘Sacred Blacksmith’ Anime Gets Blu-ray Release… In Spain

Sacred Blacksmith

One series that North American fans have been hoping for with a Blu-ray release is Sacred Blacksmith, something that hasn’t happened yet. It recently got a new SAVE version from FUNimation on DVD, but it continues to be elusive on the high definition front. For those that are looking for it but not at Japanese prices, the potential to own it on Blu-ray is opening up as Spanish distributor Yowu Entertainment is set to bring it out at some point as they’ve now opened a pre-sale on it. The set is being planned on DVD for 24.95 euro and 32.50 for the Blu-ray, which is limited to 500 units for it that will include an exclusive gift for those doing the pre-sale. The retail store side won’t have that exclusive but also won’t be limited in the number of copies available. Details of the pre-sale aren’t finalized yet, but it looks like there will be a drawing for the lead character in the form of a pillowcase, which will definitely get fans ordering.

Not surprising is that the release is subtitled in Spanish only.

The North American edition was recently reviewed here with its previous incarnation. That release came with the twelve episode run plus the same extras that include the Episode Previews, Textless Opening Song and Textless Closing Song.

Plot concept: Cecily’s a blushing knight in shining armor. Unfortunately, it seems most battles end with her as the damsel in distress. Her lack of skill and distaste for violence make her an unlikely heroine – until the brooding blacksmith Luke comes to her aid, using his powerful magic to forge blades of supernatural strength. Cecily wields this sacred steel and charges forth to face a dangerous new threat; a cloaked fiend is unleashing demons upon the land, and though he lurks in shadows, the villain is much closer than Cecily can imagine.
