2 min read

Dramatical Murder CrunchyrollAnnounced at the Supanova Pop Culture Expo Sydney, Madman Entertainment has picked up another license that has no North American acquisition yet with Dramatical Murder. The series was broadcast during the summer 2014 anime season and it was one that Crunchyroll simulcast around the world, including the US and Australia. Madman has no announcements in regards to availability or formats for it yet. The acquisition is one that could be a sign that a North American pickup is on the way as well, or it could be another of the rare instances of an Australian only license that happens from time to time.

The show adapts the story that comes from the boys-love adventure game of the same name. Kazuya Miura has taken on the role of director for this at Studio NAZ based on scripts by Kabura Fuchiii, who worked on the game, and Touko Machida. Character designs are being worked on by Yukiko Ban while Yuuki Hayashi is set to do music composition.

The series will star Atsushi Kisaichi as Aoba, Hiroki Takahashi as Kōjaku, Satoshi Hino as Noiz, Kenichirou Matsuda as Mink, Masatomo Nakazawa as Clear and Ryota Takeuchi as Ren.

Plot concept: The story takes place many years in the future where the game “Rhyme,” a virtual fighting game, is incredibly popular and people possess “AllMates,” convenient AI computers. Aoba leads an ordinary life, working at a junk shop and living with his grandmother on the island of Midorijima. Unlike his friends, he doesn’t participate in Rhyme, nor does he belong in a gang. However, when rumors of people disappearing spread, Aoba finds himself needing to unravel the mysteries behind the island in order to protect his everyday life.
