When a series gets listed as part of the kids realm, it rarely gets talked about in most anime circles, which is unfortunate because there’s some good stuff there. One show is the spring 2015 anime series Pikaia!, which clocks in with fifteen minute episodes. The show is getting its home video release from Pony Canyon with the first volume scheduled for July 8th, 2015. It’ll have the first four episodes and will be priced at 2,800 yen. No extras are solicited with the release at this time.
The thirteen episode series is directed by Daiki Tomiyasu based on the series composition from Junichi Fujisaka and animated by Production IG and OLM. It stars Ayaka Suwa, Kaori Mizuhashi and Hayato Taya.
Plot concept: The story begins in the future when Earth itself is no longer inhabitable by living creatures. Humans began their interstellar migration with space colonies. Vince and Hana work as researchers in the Cambrian Project. Together with the creature Pikaia, they seek the Lost Code, the key to restoring Earth, and aim to return to Cambrian-era Earth.
