While we’ve had a strong run for Sword Art Online in general over the last couple of years, the next phase of its roll out to grab more fans is now happening as the English language adaptation is beginning to stream more. The full twenty-five episode run of the original season is now available to stream on both Crunchyroll and Hulu. Both have their availability set for the US, as makes sense since it’s Anipelx USA that’s distributing, but Crunchyroll gets the added bonus of serving Canada with it since Hulu doesn’t extend there. There’s no indication of how long the streams will remain there, and we usually do recommend checking the show out earlier than later if you’re interested.
Check out our opening thoughts on the series itself with our first Blu-ray review.
Plot concept: In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has been released where players control their avatars with their bodies using a piece of technology called: Nerve Gear. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now…
