We learned a few months ago that there would be a new original film for Yowamushi Pedal coming out this summer, slated as simply The Movie, which will debut on August 28th, 2015. Now some new details have arrived, with anew poster key visual that you can see to the right being a big visual representation of the project. The film is being done based on a story from the original creator with a special race being put into play. Osamu Nabeshima served as the director for the TV series and is operating as the chief director here while Norihiro Naganuma is directing the film itself. He’s working off of a script by Reiko Yoshida and character designs by Yukiko Ban and Yuko Iwasa. TMS Entertainment is again handling the animation side of it.
In addition to that film, a second compilation film is on the way to deal with the previous season with Yowamushi Pedal Re: ROAD, which will land in select theaters on June 12th for a two week engagement to prepare folks for the new original feature.

Property concept: Sakamichi Onoda is a rather timid, anime-loving first-year student at Sohoku High School. Since the fourth grade, he had been riding his commuter bicycle 90-kilometers to and from Tokyo’s otaku hot spot, Akihabara after school. Upon entering high school, he tried to join the anime research club, after meeting Imaizumi Shunsuke, a renowned cyclist since middle school, and Naruko Shoukichi, who swept the Kansai cycling championship, he ended up joining the competitive cycling club. All kinds of trials and rigorous training awaited Onoda, but with the support of his many friends and upperclassmen, the talented road racer inside him began to awaken!
The second season will focus on Inter High bicycle race continuing from the first season of the series! High school students pushing themselves to the limit as they bet everything on their bicycles!
