‘Akame ga KILL!’ & ‘Michiko & Hatchin’ Anime Getting Toonami Broadcasts

2 min read

Akame ga KILL HeaderSentai Filmworks and FUNimation both announced with the folks at Toonami that they’ll be bringing out a pair of series to the network this summer. For Sentai Filmworks, this marks their first show getting a broadcast run on Toonami as they’ll bring out Akame ga KILL! on August 8th, 2015. FUNimation has had a lot of shows run on the network before, but Michiko & Hatchin is getting its first time run on there that will begin on June 20th, 2015.

Sentai Filmworks will be revealing the dub cast for the show before the broadcast of the first episode. No home video solicitation has been set for it yet either, and any solicitation will be for after the broadcast begins airing, so this will make the Toonami run a real draw for fans to get something new. Yen Press is releasing the manga for Akame ga KILL! with the third volume due out in July.

Michiko & Hatchin Plot Concept: After escaping from prison, the sexy criminal Michiko rescues an abused girl known as Hatchin. The two are about as opposite as they come, but their fates become intertwined through the connection of a man from both their pasts. On the run from the police and Hatchin’s abusive foster parents, the unlikely duo set out to find this man and ultimately discover their freedom.

Akama ga KILL Plot Concept: Under the rule of a tyrannical empire, Tatsumi, a young swordsman, leaves his home to save his poverty stricken village. He meets a girl named Akame, an assassin who was bought, brainwashed and trained to kill by the Empire. Akame is a member of the secret assassin group called “Night Raid” who use special weapons called Teigu. Together, Tatsumi and the members of Night Raid confront the corrupt empire.
