With Log Horizon 2 having now finished up, Media Factory is continuing to get things moving along with the home video releases now that the first couple of releases have come out. The fifth volume is set to come out on May 27th, 2015 with three episodes and will have a special case designed by Tetsuya Kumagai and we’ve now got a look at it and its packaging. The release will include a replica of the script for episode three as well as storyboards, two profile cards and an original short story as the first press editions along with the storyboards for the opening and closing sequences. A drama CD is also set to be included. The release also comes with a special booklet, PR program and on-disc extras with the clean opening and closing sequence.
The series is getting an eight volume release beginning on January 28th, 2015 for its twenty-five episode run. The releases will be priced at 7,800 yen for each Blu-ray and 6,800 yen for each DVD.
While the first season was animated by Satelight, this new season will be animated by Studio DEEN. Shunji Ishihira is set to return to direct the series and overall composition though, providing welcome continuity there, but Tetsuya Kumagai is on board to handle the character designs along with the art director, color designer and director of photography are being changed as well with Masakazu Miyake, Imari Katsuragi and Shinyo Kondo respectively.
Plot concept: After struggling to survive in a surreal existence they were suddenly thrown into, Shiroe and his friends have managed to restore order to Akihabara by defending the people against the Goblins in the Zantleaf Region. After six long months with the team gaining the trust of the many guilds that use the city as their home base, they must now prepare for their unforeseen future – and a tough winter ahead. Once shy and a little standoffish, Shiroe has stepped up and shown that he can be a great leader. But can he keep Akatsuki, Naotsugu, and the rest of the gang together as they start to have differing opinions on their future course of action? And will the clique agree to leave the safety of the holy land of Akihabara to head off to one of the other four cities and explore foreign lands of Elder Tale? Whatever they may decide, this world that was once a game for the players is now reality and they must decide what is best for each and every one of the members of the team. Get ready for the punch line as the saga continues where the adventurers must determine their true destiny in LOG HORIZON 2!
