It’s time to eat some potato chips again.
Neon Alley brought out the 37 episode run of Death Note previously, and it’s available on Hulu in both English and Japanese form so fans can dig into it in their preferred way. It’s a show that has certainly proven to be mostly evergreen in terms of finding an audience, something that’s rare in the high turnover world of anime. With new interest being sparked in the live action Hollywood adaptation of it, what better time to go back and revisit a show you may not have seen in years, or check it out for the first time to see what all the buzz is about?
Plot concept: Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal…or his life?
