With spies working on both sides, the third crusade between Angel and Fallen Angel reaches its conclusion. Now that both parties are aware there is a mole in each of their camps, identifying the traitors before the next set of Divine Relics appears is crucial. Reports of disagreement between Satsuki and his allies in Arcana have already given Tsuzuki a chance to make his own negotiations with Arcana and further the distance between them and the Fallen Angel… But if the discord was a ruse, Tsuzuki and his inside man – not to mention the Crusade itself – may be in jeopardy!

After further confirmation of Nao’s traitorous nature, he ends up losing/handing the fourth relic to Momose, who in turn loses it to Arcana. Thanks to Tsuzuki’s blabbermouth, Nao manages to learn that his “boss” has a mole in Arcana, which he quickly reports to the other side. This information is passed along to Arcana, and though he manages to avoid immediate detection and gets out a quick message about the spy in Tsuzuki’s group, Hinata’s actions are severely restricted as a result.
In an attempt to further swing the balance of power, Tsuzuki sets up a trade with Arcana of his anti-fallen angel relic for the fourth relic. However, it turns out that Arcana actually has an anti-angel relic already, meaning that if the trade goes through they’ll have weapons to turn on both sides. Desperate, Hinata decides to try to steal the anti-angel relic, and ends up getting caught in the process. Meanwhile, Nao falls into Tsuzuki’s trap and is also outed as a spy, while Tsukimiya storms Arcana and rescues her on-again off-again partner.
When Hinata ends up face to face with Nao, who will come out on top? And just whose plans run the deepest in this web of crisscrossing double crosses?
In Summary
With a good central focus on spies, this volume manages a bit of a unique flair that fits in well with the theme of characters crossing one another. Nao in particular is pushed quite far in this volume and has a pretty nice showing as a result. Hinata of course is not a slouch either, pulling off some interesting scenes. Add in the rather ambiguous role of Arcana and a cliffhanger at the end, and you have another solid entry into the series.
