FUNimation’s had some fun playing with fans this week on the site page for The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan as they initially listed all of the English language cast as Shark McShark. With the show kicking off tomorrow with its Broadcast Dub debut, it looks like they’ve updated the page with accurate casting information – though we’re a bit shy about it considering they were playing wit hit before. But as they’re now listing Chris Sabat as the ADR director working off of scripts from Bonny Clinkenbeard, we’re suspecting this is the accurate cast list, which should please a lot of fans.
NAGATO Michelle Ruff
KYON Crispin Freeman
ASAKURA Bridget Hoffman
HARUHI Wendee Lee
MIKURU Stephanie Sheh
TSURUYA Kari Wahlgren
ADR Director Christopher R. Sabat
Lead Writer Bonny Clinkenbeard
Update: Christopher Sabat took to Twitter to clarify a bit that he’s not the ADR director but rather Todd Haberkorn is. Sabat is serving as a producer on it however. He also confirmed that the series is being recorded in Los Angeles and is a SAG project.
Jun’ichi Wada is directing the series based off of scripts by Touko Machida with Satelight handling the animation. Ikuko Ito is handling the character designs for it. Takeish Yasuda is handling the overall planning while Kenichi Tajiri is on board to work the art direction. Lantis is, unsurprisingly, handling the music for the show while Tatsuya Katou is on board to compose the original music for it.
The original Japanese cast returned for the project as well with Minori Chihara as Yuki Nagato, Tomokazu Sugita as Kyon, Natsuko Kuwatani as Ryoko Asakura, Yuko Goto as Mikuru Asahina, Yuki Matsuoka as Tsuruya-san, Minoru Shiraishi as Taniguchi, Megumi Matsumoto as Kunikida, Daisuke Ono as Itsuki Koizumi and Aya Hirano as Haruhi Suzumiya.
Plot concept: In an alternate universe, shy, awkward Yuki Nagato attempts to court her crush, Kyon, with the help of her best friend and neighbor, the perky and indomitable Ryoko Asakura. Together, the trio defends their high school literature club from extermination…and from the pestering of their over-the-top classmate Tsuruya and her friend and minion Mikuru.
