With a couple of teaser spots previously and the first full trailer arriving recently, FX has now formally set the premiere date for the second season of The Strain. The series is slotted for a July 12th, 2015 debut at 10pm, making it a late night Sunday night show that won’t have a lot of competition. The first season of the series is one that did very well for FX as it had an average of 2.4 million viewers, which was the most watched new scripted series for the network.
The second season got a thirteen episode order back in August 2014 that will have it premiere in summer 2015, which was the plan of the show did well as FX has talked about this as a definite story with a beginning, middle and end that could range from 39-65 episodes depending on how it unfolds.
Plot concept: The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
