The first full release week of May in Japan is one that is pretty much awful to watch. With little in the way of new out, the landscape is almost entirely under 1,000 copies each for the titles out there and most are just straggler sales for titles that have been out a bit. The top of the list on both charts is the first Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin release, with the Blu-ray adding just under three thousand new copies. The new releases are pretty abysmal with Absolute Duo with its second volume nabbing 776 Blu-ray sets sold and the first Tamayura movie bringing in just 2600 sales, though at least that’s offset by what was sold directly at the theatrical showings. The rankings are so low that even the never usually see One Piece material surfaces with its whopping 278 sets sold for its new release.
