FUNimation’s had some good results with their involvement in the High School DxD franchise realm and now that the third season is airing, they get to play int he fanservice side of things again. With the third season streaming on their site, they’ve now added the opening and closing sequences to their popular YouTube channel. Sadly, because of music rights issues, they’re not able to be done with English subtitles. But we do get a good look outside of their service at the opening song by Choucho and the ending song by StylipS.
The first two seasons came relatively quickly with the first debuting in 2012 and the second hitting in 2013. FUNimation has released both of those on DVD/BD in North America and has rights for this new season as well.
The light novel series began in 2008 and has seventeen volumes to its name so far. A manga adaptation kicked off in 2010 with the main run of it having four volumes, but there are a few spinoffs as well. Yen Press has picked up the main manga as well as the first spinoff from 2012. A 3DS visual novel game was released at the end of 2013 in Japan as well.
Franchise concept: A war between heaven and hell is raging on Earth – and a hot mess of hormonal fury is raging in Issei’s pants. The guy is dying to get some action. Which is funny, since his first date ever turns into a winged monster and tries to kill him. Fortunately, ridiculously curvy redhead Rias comes to his rescue. She’s president of The Occult Research Club, a club that doesn’t actually research the occult. They ARE the occult – and Rias is a Devil.
Rias takes Issei as a more-than-willing slave and begins training him to use magic in battle against the Fallen Angels, the long-time enemies of Devils everywhere. If Issei can improve his mystical skills, he’ll be able to help his hotter-than-hell master and her scorching supernatural schoolgirl friends defeat their foes. Even better, he might end up with a few sexy slaves of his own.
