What They Say
To negate the threat of Cyan Pile, the mysterious enemy attacking Kuroyukihime, Haruyuki – now the Burst Linker Silver Crow – stands up to fight as her knight. But Kuroyukihime’s suspicions about the true identity of her foe are placed squarely on a certain person Haruyuki knows well! Suddenly, Haruyuki is at odds with his princess, and this strain in their relationship sends everything careening off in the absolute worst direction! The clash between Silver Crow and Cyan Pile begins!!

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
In order to clear up the suspicions surrounding Chiyu, Haruyuki decides to direct with her in order to confirm without her knowing, sneaky as it may be. The two actually have a serious heart-to-heart and really vent their feelings, but in the end Haruyuki realizes that her Linker has actually been hacked, which explains the connection to Cyan Pile! He tries to tell Kuroyukihime this, but when he mentions the directing she freaks out. Once again he ends up hating on himself and she gets angry, just in time for them to realize that a car is barreling at them. It turns out Araya didn’t take things so well, and though they have enough time to Burst Link, they’re still trapped in an inescapable predicament. Realizing this, Kuroyukihime admits her love before using a powerful and expensive technique to save Haruto, but she ends up taking the brunt of the hit head on.

Wracked with guilt, Haruyuki ends up staying at the hospital, waiting for Kuroyukihime to stabilize. When he realizes that the hospital has her Linker connected to their net, he ends up with a different fear, believing she may come under attack. No seeming suspects for Cyan Pile show up, but when Taku appears everything clicks in Haruyuki’s head. Though he doesn’t want to believe it, it turns out Taku is indeed Cyan Pile, and as such our hero challenges his friend before the enemy can take on Kuroyukihime while she’s left defenseless.

When Taku proves a mighty and intimidating opponent, will Haruyuki be able to overcome? Perhaps our hero will be able to pull a last minute trick out of his sleeve? And just what effect will this insane battle have on his relationship with his friends?

In Summary
While the first volume made for an impressive setup, this one takes that setup and absolutely runs with it. This volume really is firing on cylinders, and is packed to the brim with emotion and action. The conversations with Chiyu and Kuroyukihime are both incredibly touching and overflowing with intense feelings. The big battle of the volume, meanwhile, takes that same emotional force and adds some serious action on top. This book really feels like a finale and has the power of one, so it’ll definitely be interesting to see if the series can continue to ramp things up. For now, this remains an absolutely fantastic read that shouldn’t be missed.
