Unfortunate news has surfaced via Gangan Joker in that it’s been revealed that mangaka Cocoa Fujiwara has passed away. Fujiwara was just thirty-one at the time of her passing, with the cause of her death not revealed. The site reports that she passed away on March 31st. Fujiwara came to notice sixteen years ago when she created her debut work with Calling, which encouraged her to skip high school and focus on manga. Her most famous work is Inu X Boku SS, which is released in North America in manga form as well as the anime adaptation. Her most current work is Katsute Mahou Shoujo to Aku wa Tekitai shite Ita, which is currently serialized in Gangan Joker with a new installment having landed just a couple of weeks ago.
It’s expected that the unfinished/unpublished material from it will be brought together for the final volume and that details will be revealed in the future.
Anime and manga fans have lost a wonderful voice from within the community and our sympathies are there for her family and friends.
