Yurikuma Arashi | Episode 11 | TFP Review
Library-chan: Goodnight sweet princess. You were the best character in this show. At least you went saving your friends. Although, it was a bloodbath all around, with Ginko killing a bunch of girls as well (under the influence of Yurizono). It was kind of quick how Ginko gets rid of Yurizono though. I expected something more dramatic, instead Ginko just shrugs her off. Two more episodes, even though this felt like the penultimate one. Will their be another war between bears and humans? Can Ginko and Kureha stop it?
Sensuifu: I thought using Yurizono as part of Ginko’s conscience was effective in conveying the duality and conflict Ginko has for staying a bear. Yurizono isn’t really there. She already died. What we see of her is Ginko’s manifestation of her, personifying her ‘desire’ to live like a bear. She has two choices; either relinquishing that nature or become human. Seeing Yurizono denied was Ginko’s way of saying she’s made up her mind in order to fulfill the promise kiss between Kureha. Ginko doesn’t really shrug her indecision off, she doesn’t even allow it to influence her determination to stay with Kureha versus remaining a bear. In other words, she’s freed herself from the ‘bear ways’ of thinking and won’t allow it to interfere with her ultimate goal now.
And sad to see Lulu’s fate. It was cute seeing her come back for one final appearance though.
Will be interesting to see how Kureha is ultimately going to love/receive a promise kiss from Ginko, though I’m guessing she might end up doing it herself given what happens in the severance court.
Yamada2: Shit, Lulu dies. Nooooooooo! She was the best character and she died without getting the desired love from Ginko. Damn. That scene towards the end where Lulu was dying was just cuteness overload.
So Kureha doesn’t want to admit that she loves Ginko and is friends with Lulu for whatever reason. I’m not sure what Ginko wants though. When they say “eat”, do they mean it in the literal sense or what? Because I don’t see Ginko actually eating Kureha any time soon.
The most confusing part is that question shabadadoo asks. “Do you want to become human? Or do you want to give up on love?” I tried thinking about it but I can’t seem to make any sense out of it. Are both options like interlinked or something? As in you can become human but will have to give up on love or you can not give up on love but you won’t become human? The “or” makes it tricky. Is shabadadoo giving options: choose A or B? Or is it something else? Or am I not getting something here?
Anyway, we didn’t get to see Kureha’s Yuri trial yet. The last episode also ended with her in the Yuri court.
We got a flashback for Ginko. It wasn’t really needed since that sparkle bear or that megane bear already told us the reason behind Kureha’s memories of Ginko being lost. Ginko going on a bloodless killing spree was something. It’s either these bears know how to kill without spilling any blood or these girls don’t have any blood. A massacre like this should be bloody.
Now for the finale. Things are wrapping up neatly so far. Kureha will have to accept Ginko now.
EmperorBrandon: Awww… it’s nice to get a bit more of the story of Kureha picking up Ginko in the snow. It actually wasn’t that she had completely saved her. They each took their turns at helping each other. Kureha suffered due to her sweet unyielding love for a bear, though Ginko again in turn sacrificed so much (and waited so long) to try and end that and still be together with Kureha.
But speaking of sacrifices, Lulu… Gathering up the pieces of the book, and the perfect use of her endearing catchphrase. I definitely really teared up. What will happen with the girls’ final “trial” (both figuratively and literally).
Chouko sure dug into what was going on more than I was expecting, and get a philosophical stance out of her.
