Hugh Jackman’s Final ‘Wolverine’ Role Confirmed

2 min read

Hugh JackmanWe got word earlier this month that the filming for the third Wolverine solo film outing would come in early 2016 and fans have been waiting to hear more about that project amid the ongoing details about X-Men: Apocalypse. What we ended up getting was what we didn’t expect though as Hugh Jackman has revealed that he’s suiting up for one more appearance as the character, which left folks wondering if it was going to be X-Men: Apocalypse or The Wolverine sequel.

James Mangold, director of The Wolverine and the sequel, has confirmed that The Wolverine sequel will indeed have Hugh Jackman, making that his final entry as the character. Jackman has talked about the character a lot over the years since first taking it on with the original X-Men film and how it propelled him to so many other projects, and recently stating that he’d do the role forever if he was allowed to. But with the physical requirements for it, it’s not a surprise that he’s passing the role on after that. Though one could hope for an Old Man Logan film in our futures…

Fox has set a March 3rd, 2017 debut for the untitled Wolverine film. Mangold directed The Wolverine after Darren Aronofsky stepped away from the project amid the tragedy in Japan where filming was set to take place before the recent devastating earthquake and tsunami. No details are available yet about this new installment with who may be in it, what story may be adapted or how it might tie into the other events of the X-Men universe.
