Disappearance of Yuki HeaderWith the premiere set soon for The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan in Japan set to make its debut on April 3rd, 2015, FUNimation has now announced their acquisition of the rights for the series. They have not set a date for their simulcast for it yet, but we’ll be getting that information soon as the show is just a few days away. FUNimation getting the rights to the show isn’t too much of a surprise and you can see them doing some interesting promotion for it on the home video side down the line after they acquired the anime rights for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya previously

Jun’ichi Wada ia set to direct the series based off of scripts by Touko Machida with Satelight handling the animation. Ikuko Ito is handling the character designs for it. Takeish Yasuda is handling the overall planning while Kenichi Tajiri is on board to work the art direction. Lantis is, unsurprisingly, handling the music for the show while Tatsuya Katou is on board to compose the original music for it.

The original cast is returning for the project as well with Minori Chihara as Yuki Nagato, Tomokazu Sugita as Kyon, Natsuko Kuwatani as Ryoko Asakura, Yuko Goto as Mikuru Asahina, Yuki Matsuoka as Tsuruya-san, Minoru Shiraishi as Taniguchi, Megumi Matsumoto as Kunikida, Daisuke Ono as Itsuki Koizumi and Aya Hirano as Haruhi Suzumiya.

Plot concept: In an alternate universe, shy, awkward Yuki Nagato attempts to court her crush, Kyon, with the help of her best friend and neighbor, the perky and indomitable Ryoko Asakura. Together, the trio defends their high school literature club from extermination…and from the pestering of their over-the-top classmate Tsuruya and her friend and minion Mikuru.
