With Tokyo Ghoul √A having ended today in Japan, fans are now without more of this particularly fun world that they’ve been drawn into. But the final episode has provided a bit more for fans to look forward to as an OVA is being planned for the prequel spinoff manga series Tokyo Ghoul: Jack. This work is about Arima during his high school days and was serialized in the Jump Live digital service back in 2013 from original creator Sui Ishida. No details about the production are available, but it’s largely expected to be the same creative team as the TV series.
The Tokyo Ghoul property is likely not over by any stretch as there’s still a stage play to come in Japan and the second manga series, Tokyo Ghoul:re seems like it’d be adapted easily enough when there’s enough material to move forward with as the property has done well in Japan and abroad.
Overall property concept: Strange murders are happening in Tokyo. Due to liquid evidence at the scene, the police conclude the attacks are the results of “eater” type ghouls. College buddies Kaneki and Hide come up with the idea that ghouls are imitating humans so that’s why they haven’t ever seen one. Little did they know that their theory may very well become reality.
