John Cassaday Departs Ongoing ‘Star Wars’ Series

2 min read

Star Wars Issue 1 HeaderComing as not much of a surprise to long time followers, but John Cassaday has announced formally that he’s departing the ongoing Star Wars series with the sixth issue that’s coming out in a few months. On his official page, he’s posted a breakdown of the cover to the first issue while talking about wrapping up his final issue.

While Cassaday tends to have shorter runs with his works, it’s not a surprise to see that Marvel may be thinking more of “writing for the trade” with this series as the volumes will certainly do well in the bookstore channel in the years to come, and to have material out in said stores by the time The Force Awakens hits in theaters on December 18th, 2015. At this stage, nobody has been announced in regards to the seventh issue with who will be handling the art chores.

Interestingly enough though, we now know who is handling the eighth issue of the series as Marvel followed up Cassaday’s posting by revealing that Stuart Immonen will be taking over the art duties after someone special guests on the seventh issue. Immonen’s work begins with issue eight in July and you can see a rough illustration piece from him:
