For those that don’t want to pay the exorbitant pricing out there for the previous memorial edition box sets, a new edition of the Chinpui TV series is on the way. Set for release on May 27th, 2015 with the box priced at 25,000 yen, it’ll contain the 114 TV episodes and the theatrical anime feature film across eleven discs. The release looks to be identical in terms of content to the previous edition box set release, but doesn’t include the pack-in materials such as the booklet or CD since it’s a priced-down “special box” release.
The show originally ran back in 1989 through 1981 and was animated by Production I.G. and is based on the four volume manga by F. Fujio Fukiko which ran from 19895 to 1991.
Plot concept: One day, a regular Earthling girl called Eri is visited by a pair of strange but somewhat cute aliens from the planet ‘Mal’, telling her that she has been selected as the best marriage candidate for their prince. When she refuses, one of them stays to ‘prepare’ her for and perhaps persuade her into marrying their beloved prince! Another Fujiko classic!
