After getting picked up for home video release by Discotek Media last month, Hi☆sCoool! Sega Hard Girl is now on track to get some additional exposure as TMS Entertainment has launched it on Hulu. The addition of the series on the streaming service doesn’t have the whole thing being added, but the first three episodes are now available in its original Japanese with English subtitles. The series is similar to a number of other recent CG anime series in that the episodes are only eleven minutes long, making them great for sampling and filling out a little time between other shows. The series is available for viewers in general but Hulu Plus users can get the show in HD on their TV, mobile and computer.
The CG series was animated at TMS Entertainment and Jinnis under the direction of Sota Sugahara who has written the scripts himself and with Masayuki Kibe. The group is using the MikuMikuDance softward to bring this to life.
The project brings together the various consoles to tell the story in this form with three of them formally cast so far with Dreamcast by M.A.O., Sega Saturn by Minami Takahashi and Mega Drive by Shiori Izawa. Other characters featured in the recent PS Vita game Samurai & Dragons included Game Gear and Master System.
Plot concept: The story of the anime will revolve around Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, and Mega Drive, who have just enrolled in SeHaGaga Academy at Tokyo’s Haneda Ōtorii station. They are given an assignment needed to graduate by a suspicious teacher, and to clear this assignment, the girls need to enter the world of Sega games. The girls must try their best to graduate without incident.
