Fairy Tail takes a trip!
What They Say:
“Here Comes Kemokemo”
Natsu and Happy get a new addition to their family: Kemokemo, an unknown creature hatched from an egg that fell out of the sky. Natsu goes on a guild exchange program so he can ask all over Fiore about Kemokemo, but he, Gray, and Erza cause trouble at every guild on the trip.

And so the beginning of another arc begins, with just a month left in this anime season. I feel like I was promised the return of manga material come the spring season in April, so I’m really looking forward to this.
The setup, however, is just as silly as the best filler Fairy Tail episodes have been. The main four (Natsu with Happy, Lucy, Erza, and Gray) are in an exchange program with the other participants in the Grand Magic Games! It’s the dumbest thing possible, but also the most amazing. I want to see the magicians they sent to Fairy Tail. Where’s that episode??
In turn, they go to Blue Pegasus as hosts, Lamia Scale as archeologists, Mermaid Heel as waitresses, and Sabertooth as…the exchange program is cancelled. There are more pressing matters at hand! Mirage Island, the very same from Pokémon, has appeared seven days ago. No one knows what happened with it, but it’s CREEPY. Thus basically ends the episode, setting up for what is sure to be another disappointing filler arc. Just like the one with the dinosaur lady who said “yes” all the time.
They must have had their B team animating this one, because the characters looked way off model for a good majority of the episode. In one scene, the eyes were clearly tinier than they should be. Overall, one of those curiosities in an already sketchy anime production.
The ending animation is Kagura in a skimpy bathing suit dropping an entire sundae on the beach. Pan up from her feet, so this ending is surely for feet fetish boys!
I just want the rest of the episode until the manga material comes back to be the exchange student stuff. It might be one of the most fun yet just because of how many character pairings you can have. Most of the ones they had prior to were in the midst of battle; you didn’t really get to see Erza and Kagura just hang out. I want to see that episode! But this episode did delivery on dumbness solely in Natsu and Kemokemo, who I have not even mentioned until now because of how dumb and relatively boring he is. He’s literally a plot device waiting to happen.
